One of the latest trends on the app, TikTok, has been Cloud Bread. A simple three-ingredient recipe that tastes like Angel Food Cake and can be fun for any family to try out. The trend started when the TikTok user @linqanaaa posted the recipe last week. She is known for posting different baking recipes and food trends. Her video of the Cloud Bread has over 35.2 thousand views and over three thousand likes.
Since her video, the #CloudBread videos has over 892.9 million views. Some are saying that this is the biggest food trend on the app since Whipped Coffee back in April. One thing that has been added to the basic recipe has been the addition of food coloring. And what kid doesn’t love food coloring?
Here is the basic recipe for one loaf of cloud bread:
– Whisk three egg-whites in a bowl until they are bubbly. I recommend the parents, or whoever is in charge, to separate the egg yolks.- Add 30 grams of white sugar and 10 grams of corn starch to the egg-whites.- Whisk all the ingredients together until the mixture becomes super-stiff. This can take a while if you are hand-whisking it, but if you have several kids, everyone can take a turn.- If you are adding food coloring, add it while you are whisking the mixture.- Lay out the mixture on a baking sheet. Ideally the mixture would be in one half-sphere, but you can make it in any shape you want. Each child can make their own mini-loaf as well.- Bake for 25 minutes at 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
When the bread is cool enough, your kids should be able to rip it open and see the “cloudy” texture inside the bread.
If each kid wants their own colored cloud bread, just repeat the recipe, but add different food coloring to each batch. To make things easier for parents of multiple kids, have a bowl for each children and have each of them make a loaf. When everything is mixed, put all the loaves on one sheet so they can bake at the same time.
If you want to make the recipe, ‘fancy’, you can add vanilla extract, add sliced almonds on top of the mixture before you put it in the oven, or put it extra herbs or flavoring.
In 2017, the YouTube Channel, Tasty, uploaded a Cloud Bread recipe that included tartar and cream cheese to make a bun-type of bread.
And this isn’t a one-stop recipe either. There are many other “cloud bread” recipes you can use. Most notably are the Pizza Cloud Bread, Everything Bagel Cloud Bread, and even Ranch Cloud Bread.
Baking with kids doesn’t have to end up in high calorie food either. This bread is known to be low-calorie and a great alternative to wheat bread. Many who follow the Keto Diet or may have celiac disease can use this recipe as well.
